The patent-pending KWIKtest Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Tests are a NEW WAY to test incontinence pads or briefs for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in a simple and quick way.
WHAT IS THE KWIKtest URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI) TEST?
The patent-pending KWIKtest In-Diaper UTI Test is a NEW way to test for urine infections in a simple and quick way, allowing comfort and dignity for residents and reducing the workload for caregivers. The KWIKtest UTI Test is a in-pad/in-brief test for the detection of nitrites and leukocytes in the urine, indicating a urinary tract infection. No separate urine collection is needed - urine collection and analysis occurs completely in the pad or brief. Each KWIKtest UTI Test Pack for Long Term Care comes with 50 KWIKtest UTI Test Strips and 50 KWIKtest Urine-Absorbing Gel-Free Pads. The KWIKtest Gel-Free Pads are needed because urine is absorbed too efficiently into the gel beads in a brief, but the KWIKtest Gel-Free Pads retain urine and will remain damp enough for urine analysis with our KWIKtest UTI Test Strip.
HOW DOES THE KWIKtest UTI TEST WORK?
It works by first applying the KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad to the inside of the incontinence pad or brief. The KWIKtest Liner has a soft surface, making it comfortable for residents to wear. After urination has occurred, simply press the colored pads on the KWIKtest Strip onto the wet area of the KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad for just a few seconds to allow colored pads to adequately absorb the urine. After adequate absorption, compare the colored pads on the KWIKtest Strip to the color chart (back page) for easy interpretation. This makes it easy to see if the resident has an infection, even if there are only small amounts of bacteria present. Testing can be performed and results obtained immediately after urination and up to 4 hours* after urination allowing no interruption to incontinence pad/brief changing routines.

WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF THE KWIKtest UTI TEST?
The KWIKtest UTI Test is a screening device only and should not be used for diagnosis or treatment. Medications and diagnosis/treatment decisions should not be based only on measurements of the KWIKtest UTI Test. Under certain conditions, you may get a negative result even though the resident has a UTI: If the infection is caused by bacteria that does not change nitrate to nitrite, if the urine has not been held in the bladder long enough, you will get a negative nitrite result. If there are only a small number of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the urine, you may get a negative leukocyte result. Under certain conditions, you may get a positive result even though a laboratory will not find any UTI.
