WHAT IS THE KWIKtest URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI) TEST?

The patent-pending KWIKtest Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Tests is a NEW WAY to test a diaper-wearing baby, toddler or adult for Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) in a simple and quick way, allowing comfort for the diaper-wearer and reducing the workload for the caregivers. The KWIKtest UTI Test is a in-diaper test for the detection of Leukocytes and Nitrites in the urine, indicating a UTI. No separate urine collection is needed - urine collection and analysis occurs completely in the diaper. Each KWIKtest UTI Test pack ordered comes with 20 KWIKtest UTI Strips and 20 KWIKtest (Urine-Absorbing) Gel-Free Pads. The KWIKtest Gel-Free Pads are needed because urine is absorbed too efficiently into the gel beads in a diaper, but the KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad retains enough urine for urine analysis with our KWIKtest UTI Test Strip.

HOW DOES THE KWIKtest UTI TEST WORK?

The KWIKtest UTI Test works by first applying a KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad to the inside of the diaper. After urination has occurred, with gloved hand, the caregiver presses the colored squares on the KWIKtest UTI Test Strip onto the damp KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad for just a few seconds to allow the colored squares to adequately absorb the urine. After adequate absorption, compare the color of the squares to the color blocks on the color chart (on the instruction sheet) for easy interpretation. This makes it easy to see if Leukocytes or Nitrites are present, even if there are only small amounts present.  Testing can be performed and results obtained immediately after urination and up to 4 hours* after urination allowing no interruption to incontinence pad/brief changing routines.

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THE KWIKtest URINARY TRACTINFECTION (UTI) TEST?

  • Is three tests in one - our KWIKtest UTI Test measures Leukocytes, Nitrites and pH (three common indicators of a UTI).
  • Is the same urinary tract infection test used in many doctor's offices.
  • Is a reliable, over-the-counter UTI test that you can rely on.
  • Provides accurate results in 60 seconds.
  • No separate urine collection is needed - urine collection and analysis occurs completely in the brief or incontinence pad.
  • Can be used with any disposable or reusable incontinence product such as a brief or incontinence pad.
  • Is a non-intrusive procedure - avoids painful catheterization.
  • Much less effort than collecting a clean catch urine sample.
  • Saves time - reduced workload for caregivers.
  • Simple, user-friendly instructions with color chart and visual results in 60 seconds.
  • Results can be obtained immediately after urination and up to 4 hours* after urination (*the possibility of contamination increases the longer the KWIKtest Gel-Free Pad remains in the brief).

FASTER THAN TRADITIONAL METHODS

Placing, testing and reading takes a maximum of two (2) minutes. Using traditional methods, including separate urine collection and analysis, takes on average 16.8 minutes. This means that the KWIKtest UTI Test is 90% faster, on average, compared to procedures that involve traditional urine collection.

WHAT ARE THE LIMITS OF THE KWIKtest UTI TEST?

The KWIKtest UTI Test is a screening device only and should not be used for diagnosis or treatment. Medications and diagnosis/treatment decisions should not be based only on measurements of the KWIKtest UTI Test. Under certain conditions, you may get a negative result even though the diaper-wearer has a UTI: If the infection is caused by bacteria that does not change nitrate to nitrite, if the urine has not been held in the bladder long enough, you will get a negative nitrite result. If there are only a small number of white blood cells (leukocytes) in the urine, you may get a negative leukocyte result. Under certain conditions, you may get a positive result even though a laboratory will not find any UTI.

WHAT WILL AFFECT KWIKtest UTI TEST RESULTS

  • There is vaginal discharge or blood in the urine.
  • The genital area is not cleaned thoroughly.
  • Have an inflammation in the urinary tract.
  • Medicines, such as Vitamin C, Antibiotic.
